Hollow Vale Chronicles

Hollow Vale Chronicles caught me off guard with its writing. The party members actually have personalities, and the little side conversations made me care about the fights. Combat is turn-based with a skill-timing twist that keeps you engaged instead of auto-attacking.

Progression is generous. You unlock new abilities at a steady clip and the difficulty ramps without walls. It's a big game for a phone, and it earns the space it takes up.
