Big Bass Fishin

Big Bass Fishin is one of those games I didn't expect to like and then played for way too long. The loop is calm: you pick a spot, cast the line, wait for a bite, and then time your reel-ins so the fish doesn't slip off. It sounds simple, and it is, but the timing gives it just enough tension to keep you tapping.

Controls are all one thumb. You flick to cast, tap to hook, and hold-and-release to reel while watching a little tension meter. Pull too hard and the line strains; go too easy and the fish drags out into deeper water. Once it clicks, landing a big one feels genuinely satisfying. The bigger fish put up a real fight and you can feel the difference.

What I liked most is that it never nags you. You can play two minutes waiting for a bus or half an hour zoning out on the couch, and it works both ways. The lake backgrounds are pretty and the sound of the water is weirdly relaxing. It's a great pick if you want something low-pressure that still gives you small goals to chase.
